Our Target Audience

Reverse being a film about a teenage that deveolps the ability to control time, our genre will be magical realism. Magic realism, is literary works where magical events form part of ordinary life. The reader is forced to accept that abnormal events such as levitation, telekinesis and talking with the dead take place in the real world. The writer does not invent a new world or describes in great detail new creatures, as is usual in Fantasy; on the contrary, the author abstains from explaining the fantastic events in order to avoid making them feel extraordinary.

How is this a sub genre of thriller and magical realism? http://www.gomoodboard.com/boards/nlAWaqr-/share

The genre of magical realism is quite an ambigious genre that isn't normally recognized when it is present within a film, an example of this is X-men

Goolges Genres of X-men: Action Film, Superhero Movie, Science fiction film, Thriller, Adventure film, Fantasy

Now having watched X-men I know it would be completely justified to say it comes under the Magic Realism Genre. Mutans (as the power beings are refered as) do not all have their power explained and all are forced to accept it as they are hunted by the government.

When deciding whether or not to enter our short film 'Reverse' into the Magical Realism genre, I wanted to see the different reactions audiences had towards them and the actual turn out of the film, which I would judge by the money it made. I chose to look at the iconic film Pans Labyrinth about the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. It recieved a 8.2 on IMDB which is the highest out of its genre, and one of the highest across all genreson imdb and it also recieved a  95% on rotten tomatoes. The film won 3 Oscars and made  $83,258,226 worldwide.
