In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
SPECTRE

A cryptic messages from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Belluci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infilitrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation know as Spectre

The use of guns allow the audience to quickly identify that this movie is a thriller. The gun i the main subject as it shows him about fire onto an enemy. The fire in the background also add emphasis on the genre

The main character is 'James Bond' who becomes the hero saving an endangered girl from a group of enemines. The enemies are multiple people who are working as a group. There are also backroom characters who work for 'James Bond'

The special effects in this scene show the hanging off a falling building, which has just slammed onto the floor. The special effects are effective, beause they show that there are always greater obstacles in which the hero needs to hurdle.

The font, if you look closely, shows 3D misfit lines. This could represent that there are many obstacles in the way of 'James Bond'. The 'C' in 'Spectre' has a bullet surrounding it. This could be a representation of James Bond being surrounded in villians

The editing in this image focuses all on the main character. The sense of lighting makes 'James Bond' seem significant which gives the audience the understanding that he will be the most featured character

All the formal suits allow the audience to see an elegance within this thriller. The suits could also represent a high standard thriller, as in general upperclass spies wear suits and glasses.

In Spectre, the setting shows a big view of the city. This can show the audience that there is going to be a lot of action as this is one of the main setting in which audiences expect thrillers.
REVERSE

Our story is about a young man who recieves a power which he uses to rescue his friend multiple times. The power he has, is the ability to reverse time, which in turn cause him to replay the moment and moments leading up to his friends death

The use of knifes, is something that is often used within thrillers. Thrillers normally consist of violence and upcoming terror in the movie. The kinfe could show future use of violence as such an early use of a weapon will have a great impact on the audience

In our opening, we have three characters who are introduced. These three characters are the main people who are going to feature most in the film. The main character is falling which shows that even though he has a power, he isn't untouchable, and is just a vulnerable as the other two characters when it comes to physical harm.

The special effect used here is a flicker. We used this in a way to show the process of Tre's power, every action that he's recently experienced flashes back at his whithin the flicker.

The significance of the close up leaves our audience with the thought to expct the unexpected. Our close-up was used to demonstrate the ending of the 'reverse' of time, the close-up provides ambiguity of what's just happened, but then as the shot focuses on the rest of the frame, the audience notices that he is in the exact same place as he was at the beginning of the film.

The setting is different to 'Spectre' as we have based it outside of a school. Therefore reacting with some of our target audience, as many of them will still be in school, making them feel closer to the character, as if they could be in this scenario also. Additionally by using this one settig, it allowed us to focus on telling a story through one set piece, instead of consuming a lot of time traversing to new ones

Our costume is a little similar to the costume present within 'Spectre', as our main character is wearing formal clothing.
2. How does your media product represent particular social
groups?
ACTORS
Spectre: Daniel Craig (James Bond), Christoph Waltz (Blofeld), Léa Seydoux (Dr. Madeleine Swann), Ralph Fiennes (M), Monica Bellucci (Lucia Sciarra), Ben Whishaw (Q), Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny), Dave Bautista (Mr. Hinx), Andrew Scott (C), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Jesper Christensen (Mr. White), Alessandro Cremona (Marco Sciarra), Stephanie Sigman (Estrella).
Reverse: Tre Russell (Qwuan), Kingsley (Kings), Saffron (Innocent)
Spectre have expressed their names with unique words, especially the 1 letter names express their identity. Our girl is named innocent for obvious reasons and as she is one of the more vulnerable characters.
LIGHTING
Spectre: The lighting used in Spectre is very bright in particular scenes such as the icey mountains. The bright mountains and the dark indoors could represent the villians personalities as they could act good face to face but deeply bad inside.
Reverse: The lighting in Reverse reveals the inner thriller that we tried to present to the audience. The filming at night could also represent the evil behind our film.
DECOR
Spectre: The decor in spectre is very advanced due to them being an already known and big budget film sequel following on from 'Double 007'. This film uses delicate decorating and very specific positions of books and cupboards which were placed on purpose for pin-point detail for the audience.
Reverse: Reverse uses a building site outside of school to express an effect which brings out the inner thriller. The building site suggests that something is building up with suspense during the film.
PROPS
Spectre: The props used in Spectre signifies the main points to include in a thriller. Props such as a gun, sword and knife is introduced in the film bringing the sense of violence. Also the props such as the veichles show that it is a broad film.
Reverse: In Reverse we also use the prop knife which automtically pushes in when in contact with a solid. This is effective as it is easier for us to film with handy props which make it an effective technique. Another prop we use is the bag on our main characters back, Qwuan, which represents that he has just been out of school which is effective to lay out the setting.
COSTUME
Spectre: The costume in Spectre is very formal. Most of the actors are wearing suits, whereas the backroom staff that work for the good and evil characters in the film, wear the more casual clothing. This could be shown as a hierachy to the audience. Another point is that the more technical and better spies wear more formal to show their upper-class.
Reverse: We used normal school clothing which is mostly formal for our main characters. As we were filming outside we used jackets to show realism and continuity for the audience not to seem confused.
This is some of the research I did to try and improve the lighting within my film. This videio contains tips and tricks on lighting in film.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why?
Our media product would be distributed by a major company because it mainly follows the codes and conventions of a thriller film. The codes and conventions I used will help produce a thriller film that will appeal to the majority of the thriller fans. If it did not follow to the general form of a thriller film then a smaller company may distribute our media product and it would not be as mainstream. A media institution that might distribute our media product would be ‘Anchor Bay Entertainment’ (even though it is in the US) because it specialises in a lot of thrillers films like ‘’The Cat o’ Nine Tails, The Walking Dead ’’ etc. They also market and sell featured films, series, television specials and short films to consumers worldwide. This would help our media product to be published all over the world and enable other audiences to see our opening too. Also, because it is in America, we can get more publicity with our media product. I could also get Weinstein company (in America) to distribute my opening of a movie as they market the most popular films such as ‘Iron Lady'. This would enable my opening to be marketed around the world and hopefully grow to make the film and become successful
